Project narrative

The continuously increasing unauthorised and unregulated water abstraction for irrigation purposes is an alarming problem for Europe and the sustainability of its water resources. In order to respond to this challenge, and especially during these times of water scarcity, the detection and monitoring of water abstraction should be modernised and become more efficient and cost-effective.

DIANA developed a web and mobile commercial service platform that leverages Copernicus Earth Observation and satellite data to support water management authorities and optimise their practices and policies. The DIANA service platform was demonstrated in the real operational settings of three different countries, showcasing its solid business case and value propositions.

We acted as the Innovation Manager and were responsible for the business modelling and business planning activities that aimed to ensure the successful commercial exploitation of the DIANA service platform as well as for managing the resulting IPR issues of the project.
