Introduction

Last week we kicked-off the renewed blockchain observatory and forum project for the European Commission. We are not only proud of the award of the contract because we played a leading role in the preparation of the proposal, but also because we believe that the approach and work that we have proposed will take the blockchain observatory and forum to a new level.

The Project

Our consortium, consisting of Intrasoft International, the University of Nicosia, CERTH, OpenForum Europe, Bitfury, Planet and White, will carry out a range of activities aimed at pooling knowledge, forming consensus and thus facilitate the development and uptake of blockchain applications in Europe. With our partners, we will undertake work to:

  • Map, monitor and analyse blockchain trends, initiatives and relevant players worldwide
  • Clarify existing and emerging issues in blockchain and propose guidance on how to address challenges
  • Grow and nurture the European Blockchain Community and build a top-notch knowledge environment
  • Create a platform for collaboration to reinforce the European Blockchain ecosystem
  • Strengthen synergies with existing and upcoming European and international blockchain initiatives
  • Create an EU training hub on blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technologies
  • Create the renewed Blockchain Observatory & Forum – platform, activities and communication
  • Organise a final workshop and deliver a final report

We are already starting our close collaboration with the European Commission and are reaching out to stakeholders and initiatives across the globe. This is an exciting project and we hope that you will stay updated on all the developments.
