Project narrative
Community energy has been limited – conceptually and operationally – to a seemingly confined silo. A movement about people getting power over their own energy, reducing energy inequalities and poverty while creating new jobs, fostering the environment, reducing waste and fighting climate change deserves more attention.
ISABEL strove to promote, support and develop community biogas in Europe. The project was set on providing all the framework conditions for biogas communities to shape, develop and thrive. We worked thoroughly to pave the way for the transition from traditional supply chains to regional community-driven biogas initiatives simultaneously in three regions across Europe, located in the United Kingdom, Germany, and Greece.
We were responsible for the awareness creation activities and the project’s communication activities. During the early stages of the project we led the design of an engagement strategy for stakeholders and communities. Towards the end of the project, we were responsible for the organization of international workshops aiming the replication of ISABEL’s community biogas concepts and approach to additional regions of Europe.
