Introduction
For the last 18 months, we have been working with our partners on a project, for the European Commission, to understand the skills needs in the steel sector and the misperceptions about the sector and help address these. We have carried out interviews, surveys, workshops, focus groups and webinars to collect data and then analysed this data, resulting in policy and communications recommendations. The project then developed and executed a pan-European communications campaign to change the misperceptions about the steel sector and to create awareness of all the opportunities that the sector has to offer to job seekers.
Final report published
In conjunction with our final conference, which took place today, the European Commission has published our final report for the project. The report provides insight into the methodology we used, the updated research outcomes, including the image of careers in the steels sector, skills needs, measures for up-/re-skilling employees in the steel industry as well as recommendations, both policy and communications.
