On the 12th and 13th of September, the SCENE Consortium, a collaboration of 13 partners, met in the city of Porto for its 2nd project plenary meeting, hosted in ISEP – Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto and organized by MOG.
The central tier of the project’s advancement includes uninterrupted technical collaboration among diverse partners, each contributing their expertise to design an integrated and cognitive platform. Topics on the agenda ranged from the intricacies of the Media Asset Manager to the development and integration of SCENE-O ontologies, semantic annotation tools, and converters. The incorporation of existing film-related data lakes and the formulation of the media pipeline were also discussed, covering significant aspects like preparation, media management, distribution, and security.
By the end of the meeting, the partners discussed with the Ethics Advisory Board virtually about critical matters surrounding intellectual property rights for the SCENE project assets. It was a first step in ensuring the project’s work remains protected, yet accessible.
Practical considerations dominated the discussion as partners exchanged their knowledge on the setup of essential software and hardware to create 3D models of cultural sites. These examples, such as the utilization of high-fidelity neural surface construction tools and eye-catching 3D models of sites like Pantokratoras Monastery in Mount Athos, Greece, and an archaeological site in Kythnos, where terrestrial laser scanning technology was utilised, yielding captivating results.
