White Research is proud to announce its participation in TWIN4CITIES, a transformative project under the Horizon Europe research framework, officially launched in May 2026.

TWIN4CITIES aims to support urban environments in efficient planning and management, transforming them into vibrant, climate-neutral, and resilient environments while facilitating the achievement of their environmental goals.

Objectives and Vision:

European cities are facing increasingly complex challenges driven by climate change, rapid urbanisation, social inequalities, and the need for sustainable digital transformation. While urban areas provide essential services, opportunities, and innovation ecosystems, they are also confronted with growing pressures related to resource efficiency, environmental degradation, infrastructure resilience, and the inclusion of vulnerable communities. In this context, urban planning and management are crucial for addressing these challenges by implementing strategies for both mitigation and adaptation to climate change impacts.

The TWIN4CITIES project aims to deliver an innovative suite of digital AI-based tools, with a city-wide Local Digital Twin (LDT) as a core, to provide real-time monitoring and response, offer scenario generation and simulations, optimise resource allocation, provide insights and recommendations, and enhance decision-making.

At the core of TWIN4CITIES lies the Quintuple Innovation Helix Framework, fostering collaboration among public authorities, research organisations, industry, civil society, and environmental stakeholders. Through this ecosystem-based approach, the project ensures that urban transformation is not only technologically advanced, but also socially inclusive, culturally responsive, and environmentally sustainable.

What Sets TWINVERSE Apart:

TWIN4CITIES consortium brings together key actors of the urban transformation ecosystem, including urban planners, local authorities, software engineers, citizens, researchers and civil society representatives, ensuring a holistic perspective and a multidisciplinary approach.

White Research’s Role in TWIN4CITIES :

White Research plays a central role in ensuring TWIN4CITIES’ societal uptake. As the partner leading the multi-actor engagement strategy, WR will secure continuous dialogue with key stakeholders across urban planning and management, strengthening both the relevance and usability of the project’s solutions, as well as the uptake of its results.

Drawing on the extensive connections of all consortium partners, WR leads the design and implementation of a comprehensive engagement strategy that targets diverse stakeholders at national and EU level through the creation of multidisciplinary panels. These panels aim to ensure structured, long-term engagement of the most relevant actors in key project activities, including active collaboration in the development and validation of TWIN4CITIES’ solutions.

Through this work, White Research ensures that TWIN4CITIES’ results achieve real-world impact, backed by meaningful stakeholder involvement and effective knowledge exchange.
