On 25th – 27th January 2023, all consortium partners gathered in Bari (Italy) for the Kick-Off meeting of the EU-funded BIOTRAILS project. There, they engaged in insightful discussions and exchange of ideas on how to move forward.
Aim of the Project
The BIOTRAILS project aims at inspiring and accelerating biodiversity-relevant transformative change in the value chains of four selected products: gold mined in Ghana, cultural heritage products made by indigenous people in the Brazilian Amazon, cocoa produced in Peru and fisheries and aquaculture products in the Mediterranean region. The project aspires to build an understanding of the complex interrelations in the climate-biodiversity-society nexus and between the indirect drivers of change. In addition, BIOTRAILS will also co-design interventions in policy to activate alternative pathways towards a fair and sustainable future.
White’s role
Within the scope of BIOTRAILS, White will be setting up a number of Learning and Action Alliances which will bring together the various stakeholders from each value chain examined in the project. White will be also exploring some behavioural interventions for consumers.
During the kick-off meeting in Bari, apart from presenting our work, White also conducted a social network analysis workshop with the rest of the project partners. The goal was to identify the influence that key actors exert upon the value chain that network partners are part of, which yielded valuable insights for the stakeholder analysis that will follow.
The Consortium
The BIOTRAILS consortium is led by the National Research Council of Italy-CNR (coordinator) and a range of other partners (Harokopio University of Athens, Adelphi, White Research, Resilient Cities Network, Draxis Environmental, eBOS, The International Centre for Tropical Agriculture-CIAT, Hellenic Aquaculture Producers Organization-HAPO, Kwame Nkrumah University of Ghana -KNUST, ETH Zurich).
At White, we are very excited to embark on this interesting project and are looking forward to a fruitful collaboration with the rest of our consortium partners.
