Project narrative
Circular biobased systems have the potential to substantially contribute to the objectives of the European Green Deal, if they are developed sustainably. Even though biobased products are wholly or partially derived from renewable biological resources, it is important to ensure their sustainability considering the range of environmental impacts, as well as socio-economic impacts.
SUSTCERT4BIOBASED project is set on fostering the adoption of effective and robust sustainability certification schemes and business-to-business labels for industrial biobased systems to support tracing the sustainability of biobased products along the value chains and trades within the EU and globally for responsible production and consumption. To this end, a monitoring system will be developed with a life-cycle perspective along four themes (environment, social, economic and governance).
The project results will provide best practices and recommendations to policy makers, sustainability system community, industrial biobased value chain actors, and regional/rural bioeconomy stakeholders, resulting in harmonized system requirements, continuous improvement, and enhanced adoption of sustainability certification schemes and labels.
We are responsible for the design and implementation of the communication and dissemination strategy and the project’s communication activities. Furthermore, we are responsible for the stakeholder engagement activities leading to the development of a Network of Interest, to facilitate interaction with key stakeholders. Finally, we are responsible for leading the innovation management within the project and securing the sustainability of the project’s results beyond the project’s timeline.
