Project narrative
Urban road congestion is a complex issue that affects the lives of millions of European citizens, detrimentally impacting mobility, the environment, the economy, social cohesion and citizens’ health. While public transport is widely recognised as a significant means to tackle the problem, a shift towards more user-centred approaches is vital in order for it to play an even more decisive role in combating congestion.
The CIPTEC CIVITAS project aimed to bring forward a new thinking and innovative solutions for public transport as well as to create a favourable environment for its growth, by applying a novel marketing, behavioural change and social innovation approach in four large EU cities.
We were responsible for the collective intelligence arm of CIPTEC, which resulted in the co-creation of a large number of innovative ideas through citizen participation. We also supervised the application of social entrepreneurship models in the innovation cycle of Public Transport authorities and operators.
