Project narrative
Fuel cells, as an efficient conversion technology, and hydrogen, as a clean energy carrier, have a great potential to help fight carbon dioxide emissions, to reduce dependence on hydrocarbons and to contribute to economic growth. The Public-Private Partnership Clean Hydrogen Partnership is an initiative of the European Commission, with industry and academia on board. The Clean Hydrogen Partnership will aim to accelerate the development and deployment of the European value chain for safe and sustainable clean hydrogen technologies, strengthening its competitiveness and with a view to supporting notably SMEs, accelerating the market entry of innovative competitive clean solutions. The final goal is to contribute to a sustainable, decarbonised and fully integrated EU energy system, and to the EU’s Hydrogen Strategy, playing an important role in the implementation of its roadmap towards climate neutrality.
The project is aimed at creating synergies between the partnership and Managing Authorities at national and regional level. This means creating opportunities and active participation in knowledge exchanges, synergies and drive co-financing of hydrogen related projects. This will be through mapping of national plans, calls for expressions of interest as well as the development and signing of Memorandum of Understanding between the Clean Hydrogen Partnership and Managing Authorities (national and regional).
